NBF attorney Chris Reilly represented F/V Mary B II LLC at the May 13 – 17, 2019 U.S. Coast Guard Marine Casualty Board convened in Newport, Oregon. The Board conducted a public hearing into the circumstances of the capsizing and sinking of the MARY B II with loss of three crew on January 8, 2019. The Board’s written report of investigation is not expected to be available until sometime in 2020.

May 10th, 2019

NBF attorney Chris Reilly will be representing the owner of the fishing vessel MARY B II, which is a party in interest at a Coast Guard Marine Casualty Board to be conducted in Newport, Oregon from May 13 – 17, 2019. The Coast Guard has issued a press release regarding the hearing: //


May 9th, 2019

NBF attorney Larry Altenbrun was a speaker and presenter at the Marine Insurance Association of Seattle’s Day of Education on May 9, 2019. Larry participated in a panel presentation titled, “Shining a Light on Marine Claims: A Hypothetical Hull Casualty Roundtable” and spoke about many legal issues including Red Letter Clauses, personal injury liability, assessment of damages, punitive damages, and settlement strategies. The Day of Education is the largest marine insurance educational event held in Seattle each year, attracting attendees from around the country.

NBF attorney Noah Jaffe has accepted an appointment as the Chair of the Washington Defense Trial Lawyers (WDTL) Amicus Committee. The mission of the WDTL Amicus Committee is to advance the legal and policy positions of concern to WDTL members and their clients. The Amicus Committee appears as amicus curiae on behalf of the WDTL in appropriate and meritorious cases before the U.S. and Washington appellate courts. As Chair, Noah will oversee the Amicus Committee in regular meetings and in its decision-making process concerning which cases merit the committee’s involvement.
