Personal Narrative
Camille is a senior associate at NBAF. She focuses her practice on maritime and civil defense litigation. Her work often involves complex cross-border, cross-state and international disputes, navigating both US and foreign legal frameworks in the maritime and civil litigation realm.
With an LL.M. in Maritime Law from the University of Oslo and an international background, Camille’s path to practicing maritime and civil defense litigation was a natural one. During her LL.M. studies at Berkeley Law, she externed with a boutique maritime insurance firm in the Bay Area, and later joined a litigation boutique in Long Beach, representing shipowners and terminal operators in a range of matters.
Camille also brings a strong foundation in environmental law and shipping, developed through her M.A. thesis sponsored by the Fridtjof Nansen Institute in Oslo, and furthered through her litigation work in Long Beach. She has expertise in the legal and practical risks associated with alternative fuels—including ammonia, LNG, biofuels, and hydrogen—under both international (IMO) and US regulatory frameworks, especially as they relate to insurance and shipping industries.
In addition to her practice, Camille is active in the legal community. She serves as a volunteer member of the Oceans Group for the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), a board member of the ABA’s Ocean & Coastal Committee and was recently appointed Vice Chair of the Toxic Torts and Environmental Law General Committee under ABA TIPS and Secretary for the Maritime Law Association – Our Oceans committee.
Raised in Singapore, Camille is fluent in French and Italian, proficient in German, and brings a global perspective to her work in California.
