Personal Narrative
Matt joined NBA&F in 2020, bringing his significant experience in insurance coverage law to the firm.
Matt represents and advises insurers on a wide array of claim handling and coverage issues including contractual and extracontractual liability, defense and indemnity, primary/excess disputes, as well as contribution, subrogation and indemnity matters. Matt has significant experience with all types of coverage, including commercial liability, professional liability, environmental and pollution, bodily injury, business interruption, property damage, automobile/UIM, and others.
Matt has trial and appellate experience representing and advising clients in Washington state superior courts, federal district courts, and the Washington State Court of Appeals. He obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Washington School of Law, and his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Whitman College. During law school, he externed for the Honorable Ronald B. Leighton, Federal District Court Judge for Western Washington. He also served on the University of Washington Committee on Undergraduate and Graduate Health Insurance, helping spearhead UW’s tiered student health insurance program.
In his free time, Matt enjoys golf, skiing, home-improvement projects and spending time with friends and family.

Representative Matters
- 
Represented insurer in jury trial involving contractual and extracontractual claims by UIM plaintiffs. Jury found that no additional coverage was owed and plaintiffs voluntarily dismissed extracontractual claims as a result;

Served as Cedell counsel on behalf of a collection of insurers regarding business income claims brought by several insureds across multiple states and jurisdictions related to COVID-19;
 - Served as counsel representing foreign insurance client in the U.S. portion of a nine-figure coverage dispute;
 - Represented liability insurer in portion of multimillion dollar coverage dispute pertaining to settlement of additional insured claims arising out of underlying wrongful death premises liability lawsuit.
